On presentation of the mentioned proof of eligibility, you can take advantage of discounts and entitlements in the Upper Austrian transport network. It is not possible to combine several discounts. The conditions for a free ride on regional transport are displayed on the respective means of transport.
Children up to the age of 6 (up to the day before their 6th birthday) are transported free of charge when accompanied by a carer. Supervisors can be persons over the age of 6. Proof of authorisation is a document showing the date of birth of the respective child. Different regulations for the core zones can be found in our current fare regulations.
Children from the age of 6 (from the day of their 6th birthday) to the age of 15 (up to the day before their 15th birthday) pay half fare for single tickets and day passes. Proof of entitlement is a document showing the date of birth of the respective child.
Young people from the age of 15 (from the day of their 15th birthday) to the age of 21 (up to the day before their 21st birthday) pay the reduced fare for single tickets and day tickets. However, only tickets expressly labelled as such are valid as such discounted tickets. The youth discount may only be used in conjunction with valid proof of eligibility. Proof of eligibility is the 4YOUCard of the province of Upper Austria (including the app), an official photo ID, a valid student/apprentice ticket or youth ticket network.
Senior citizens receive single tickets and day tickets at a reduced fare upon presentation of proof of eligibility. The ÖBB VORTEILSCARD Senior (also as an app) is recognised as proof of eligibility. The VORTEILSCARD Senior is only valid in conjunction with an official photo ID.
People with disabilities (disabled, severely disabled, blind) pay half fare for single tickets and day tickets on presentation of proof of eligibility. Proof of entitlement is a valid Austrian disabled person's pass in accordance with the Federal Disability Act with the entry of a degree of disability of at least 70% or with the note: "The holder of the pass can take advantage of the fare reduction in accordance with the Federal Disability Act" or a severely war-disabled person's pass of series C from the Social Ministry Service with the entry of a reduction in earning capacity of at least 70%. The new disability passports (photo ID cards in cheque card format) are also valid as proof of entitlement. The personal details, photo, date of issue, expiry date and degree of disability are noted on the front. On the back, there are additional entries in the form of pictograms, which are also relevant for public transport. In order to receive the discount, the degree of disability noted must be at least 70% as before or the symbol must be affixed to the reverse side or the corresponding symbols must be affixed in order to grant free travel for an accompanying person or an assistance dog.
Severely (war) disabled persons with a reduction in earning capacity of at least 70% who can produce a series C severely disabled person's pass issued by the Ministry of Social Affairs with the entry "Free transport on trams and local bus services" are entitled to free transport on trams and local bus services.
Regardless of the type of ticket purchased, the following persons may take an accompanying person and/or an assistance dog travelling on the same transport service free of charge:
Children up to the age of 15 (up to the day before their 15th birthday), if stated on the proof of entitlement, are transported free of charge when accompanied by a parent with proof of entitlement, if one parent travels with the child or with several children at the same time on the same transport service and the accompanying parent buys a single ticket or a day ticket at a reduced fare. If both parents are travelling together, the second parent also pays the reduced fare. Each accompanying child over the age of 15 (from the day of their 15th birthday), if stated on the proof of eligibility, pays the reduced fare. The regulation also applies analogously to grandparents, step-parents, adoptive parents and foster parents as well as mothers and fathers of Children's Villages. The children must be listed on the proof of eligibility.
Parents who hold a KlimaTicket OÖ Gesamt can take children up to the age of 15 (up to the day before their 15th birthday) free of charge. The regulation also applies analogously to grandparents, step-parents, adoptive and foster parents as well as mothers and fathers of Children's Villages. The children must be listed on the Upper Austrian Family Card (also as an app).
Up to three children up to the age of 15 (up to the day before their 15th birthday) accompanied by both parents with proof of eligibility are transported free of charge if both parents with a child or with several children use the same transport service at the same time and one of the two accompanying parents buys a single ticket or a day ticket at the full fare. In the event that only one parent travelling with several children uses the same transport service at the same time, the number of children transported free of charge is increased to four, all other conditions being equal. Each additional child up to the age of 15 (up to the day before their 15th birthday) pays half the fare. The regulation also applies analogously to grandparents, step-parents, adoptive and foster parents as well as mothers and fathers of Children's Villages. The children must be registered on the proof of eligibility.
Small, non-dangerous live animals placed in suitable, closed containers are carried free of charge. For dogs not transported in suitable, closed containers, which are kept on a short leash on the ground and wear a bite-proof muzzle, half the fare is charged for single tickets and day tickets. Holders of KlimaTickets (KlimaTicket OÖ and KlimaTicket Österreich) and monthly tickets are entitled to travel with one large dog (not carried in a suitable container) free of charge. This does not apply to long-distance rail transport.
Assistance dogs labelled accordingly are carried free of charge and without a muzzle. Guide dogs for the blind, service dogs or signal dogs are legally recognised as assistance dogs within the meaning of §§39a BBG.
Employers can cover the costs of a Jobticket/Öffi-Ticket for a weekly, monthly or KlimaTicket OÖ for public transport for their employees free of social security contributions and benefits in kind and without non-wage labour costs, provided that this ticket is valid at least at the place of residence or work. The employee can order the respective ticket for this purpose. The invoice must be submitted to the employer.
The Tax Amendment Act 2022 stipulates that the commuter allowance will only be reduced by the value of the public transport ticket (e.g. KlimaTicket OÖ) from 2023 and will not be cancelled completely.
The gross-net calculator can be used to calculate the reduction in the commuter allowance if the employer makes an additional payment.

Please present the relevant proof together with the discounted tickets without being asked and hand them over for inspection on request. If passengers are found without a valid ticket during checks, the increased fare will be charged.
If apps are used as proof of entitlement, these must be available for obtaining the discount and for claiming entitlements. The customer is responsible for the function of the display device. Proof of authorisation must be displayed directly from the app. A display via wallet or customer card collection apps is not recognised.
