Park & Ride

Park conveniently and continue your journey in a climate-friendly way

Did you know that with a valid public transport ticket you can park conveniently and at no extra cost or very cheaply in the Park & Ride facilities in Upper Austria and neighbouring Lower Austria (St. Valentin)? You can easily cover the "first mile" by car and the rest of the way in a climate-friendly way by bus, train or tram. Please note the different access systems of the car parks. We have summarised information on the Park & Ride facilities in St. Valentin, Wels and Freistadt Süd below.

Park & Ride St. Valentin

Together with the city of St. Valentin and the state of Lower Austria, ÖBB has further expanded the Park & Ride facility in St. Valentin. There are currently around 500 car parking spaces available at the railway station. You can use these parking spaces free of charge if you are travelling on public transport and have a valid ticket:

  • Daily use (e.g. travelling in and out in the morning and evening) is free with a valid public transport ticket with a 2D code.
  • Continuous use is also free of charge from the first day up to and including the fifth day.
  • A fee of 3.00 euros per day only applies from the sixth day onwards. The longest permitted parking period is 30 days.

The innovative access system does not require any barriers at all. Instead, your car's licence plate number is automatically recorded by a camera as you enter and exit. It is therefore important to pass through the entry and exit system at walking pace. At the exit, the valid public transport ticket must then be scanned with the 2D code at the exit column. The system links your licence plate number to the ticket and thus recognises your parking authorisation. A green traffic light signals that the scan was successful and you are authorised to exit.

With a single ÖBB or Westbahn ticket

The required 2D code is printed on these tickets. Scan it when you exit the car park. A green traffic light will signalise that the scan was successful and you are allowed to exit.

With a single OÖVV ticket

Tickets purchased on the bus do not have a 2D code printed on them. Instead of scanning the public transport ticket valid at the exit, you must submit it within 48 hours together with your vehicle licence plate number by e-mail to info@apcoa.at.

With a single ticket in the OÖVV Ticket-App

Open your valid ticket in the OÖVV Ticket-App. Scan the code now displayed at the exit of the car park. A green traffic light signals that the scan was successful and you are allowed to exit.

Note: Did you forget to scan the code when leaving the car park or do you not have a 2D code on your ticket? No problem: You have the option of sending your valid ticket together with your vehicle licence plate number within 48 hours by e-mail to info@apcoa.at within 48 hours.

With ÖBB or Westbahn season ticket

The required 2D code is printed on these tickets. Scan it when you exit the car park. A green traffic light will signalise that the scan was successful and you are allowed to exit.

With OÖVV season ticket

Tickets purchased on the bus do not have a 2D code printed on them. Instead of scanning the public transport ticket valid at the exit, you must submit it within 48 hours together with your vehicle licence plate number by e-mail to info@apcoa.at. The period of validity will be linked to your licence plate number. You can then use the car park for the remaining period of validity of the ticket.

With a season ticket in the OÖVV Ticket-App

Open your valid ticket in the OÖVV Ticket-App. Scan the code now displayed at the exit of the car park. A green traffic light signals that the scan was successful and you are allowed to exit. The period of validity is linked to your licence plate number. You can then use the car park for the remaining period of validity of the ticket.

OÖVV student/apprentice ticket or OÖVV youth ticket network

If you are 17 years or older and in possession of an OÖVV pupil/apprentice ticket or an OÖVV youth ticket network, you can park for free in the car park at the railway station in St. Valentin. Scan the code when you exit the car park. You can now use the car park for the remaining period of validity.

Existing cardholders (with cards without a 2D code) can apply for the exit code at the OÖVV customer centre. You also have the option of submitting the valid card within 48 hours together with your vehicle licence plate number by e-mail to info@apcoa.at.

Note: Have you forgotten to scan the code when leaving the station or do you not have a 2D code on your ticket? No problem: You have the option of sending your valid ticket together with your vehicle licence plate number within 48 hours by e-mail to info@apcoa.at within 48 hours.

Driveway

Drive through the entrance at walking pace. Your licence plate number will be recorded automatically. You only need a valid public transport ticket for the exit and can only purchase this after you have entered.

Exit

  • With a valid ticket with 2D code, you scan it once at the exit at the scanner provided. Automatic number plate recognition links the public transport ticket to the number plate. A green traffic light signals that the scan was successful and you are authorised to exit. Long-term tickets only need to be scanned once during the period of validity.
  • For OÖVV single, daily, weekly or monthly tickets without a 2D code, you can submit your valid ticket within 48 hours by e-mail to info@apcoa.at together with your vehicle licence plate number.

Use of the Park & Ride facility without a valid ticket is a violation of the terms of use. A fee of 50 euros per day or part thereof (maximum three daily tariffs or 150 euros) is payable at the exit point. If the exit is made without the required payment, additional costs will be incurred for processing expenses.

If you leave the Park & Ride facility within 15 minutes, there is no charge.

Park & Ride Wels

The Park & Ride facility at the train station in Wels was built by ÖBB with joint funding from the state of Upper Austria and the city of Wels to make it easy and attractive to switch from car to public transport.

As the parking spaces on the car park deck were very frequently used in the past by people who did not switch to public transport, the use of the facility has been subject to a charge since November 2023. To this end, ÖBB has put a new barrier-free entry and exit system with number plate recognition into operation. This is intended to counteract the misuse of the car parks so that the parking spaces are once again available for transfer to public transport.

Further information can be found on the ÖBB website.

All valid public transport tickets with a scannable code can be used. These are single tickets and season tickets such as weekly and monthly passes or the KlimaTicket. Printed tickets can be scanned in the same way as digital tickets ("mobile phone tickets").

If your ticket does not contain a code, please contact the transport company that issued it. As before, Westbahn customers will receive a parking authorisation from the train crew in addition to their ticket.

All public transport customers who have a valid ticket with a printed code (2D code, e.g. QR code) can use the Park & Ride facility.

The access system to the Park & Ride facility works without barriers. Instead, a camera captures an image of the car's licence plate and a small part of the bonnet for each lane on entry and exit.

A valid ticket code must be scanned on exit. By automatically linking these two pieces of data (number plate and ticket code), authorised use (see also "Who can park?") is checked. This ensures that sufficient parking spaces are available to all public transport customers.

Without a valid ticket, a fee of 50 euros per day or part thereof will be charged directly at the exit column (maximum three daily tariffs or 150 euros). You can pay these costs by debit or credit card or online at https://pay.arivo.app afterwards.

If you leave the Park & Ride facility within 15 minutes, there is no charge.

If you have any questions about using the Park & Ride facility or in the event of problems such as scanning, please send the location, your vehicle registration number and your train ticket to info@apcoa.at

Park & Ride/Park & Drive Freistadt South

The Park & Ride and Park & Drive facility in Freistadt Süd was realised together with the project partners ASFINAG, Schiene OÖ and the municipalities. The facility now comprises 237 car parking spaces (including three disabled parking spaces) and four moped/motorbike parking spaces, seven e-charging parking spaces, 32 bicycle parking spaces (incl. PV system), four bicycle boxes as well as a modernised lighting system and video surveillance. Modern passenger information, such as electronic real-time displays at the departure stands, has been installed at the departure stands.

In the first expansion stage, around 100 car parking spaces, two bus stops with bus shelters and a technical room were realised. As part of the Upper Austrian state's mobility initiative, further expansion measures were carried out from mid-June 2023. These have been completed since November 2023 and the current capacities are available.

The Freistadt Süd park-and-ride facility has been served by the regional bus routes 310, 311, 312 and 319 of the OÖVV since 30 April 2021. Linz can be reached particularly easily from this location thanks to the frequent service and express routes. In addition, the proximity to the S 10 offers the possibility of carpooling (Park & Drive).
