The approximately 61 km long Summerauerbahn railway line is an important connection for commuters and travellers alike. As part of the modernisation campaign launched in 2017, eleven stations were given a contemporary and modern look. The aim is to convince even more people to switch to public transport in the future.
In total, the project partners ÖBB and the province of Upper Austria invested around 75.7 million euros in making the line more attractive between 2017 and 2023.
Passengers can look forward to modern, barrier-free railway stations and a reliable, modern route network. Safety will be improved by eliminating railway crossings and automating operations with two electronic signal boxes in Lungitz and Gaisbach-Wartberg. The line has been remotely controlled from Linz since the end of 2023.
