With the start of the summer timetable, there will be minor adjustments to the bus timetables in the Bad Ischl, Hallstatt, Obertraun and Gosau area from 7 April 2025. They are intended to benefit local commuters, who are increasingly unable to find a seat on their daily bus service due to rising tourist numbers and the resulting high capacity utilisation of regional buses to Hallstatt . Thanks to the new routing of tourist flows to other routes, no significant restrictions are to be expected for day visitors travelling to Hallstatt or Gosau.
Experience in recent months has shown that journeys from Bad Ischl railway station at 09:16 and 10:16 in the direction of Gosau and Hallstatt are regularly fully booked from the very first stop and boarding at other stops is sometimes no longer possible. This situation will become even worse in the summer months.
Minor changes to the bus timetables from Bad Ischl will therefore be implemented at the start of the summer timetable:
- From 07 April 2025, boarding for both courses (09:16 & 10:16) will only be possible from Bad Ischl Schröpferplatz for the duration of the summer season.
- Travellers from the train station to the town centre are requested to use the Bad Ischl town bus during this time.
Additional connections for tourists to Hallstatt
For tourists travelling to Hallstatt, the cancellation of the two services in the summer months does not mean any major restrictions. They will still have attractive travel options with the Salzkammergutbahn at 09:04 and 10:10, as well as at 09:28 on weekends. There are also new direct connections from Steeg-Gosau railway station to Hallstatt from Monday to Friday at 09:23 and at 09:53 at weekends with bus route 543.
You can find your ideal connection directly in the digital Journey planner or the OÖVV Routenplaner-App. You can download the timetable for the affected line in the timetable download (Line 541 & Line 543, 544).
