All the best for the start of the new school year! Pupils from the Goldwörth, Feldkirchen, Eferding, Pupping, Hartkirchen, Aschach, Ottensheim, Walding and Puchenau areas will benefit from a new school service on route 204, running from Goldwörth via Feldkirchen to Rohrbach-Berg, from the start of the new school term. This expansion is a direct response to the rapidly growing importance of Rohrbach as a school hub. In the past three years alone, the number of pupils from this catchment area has risen by 14.7 per cent to around 190. The newly introduced school bus service will significantly ease the pressure on all other school bus routes in this region.
With financial support from the Infrastructure Department of the Province of Upper Austria, the Upper Austrian Transport Association is implementing targeted improvements where the demand for school transport is particularly high. With the start of the new school term, a new school service will therefore begin from Goldwörth on route 204, providing an even better connection for pupils from the region to the school in Rohrbach. The bus departs at 6.52 am and travels via Feldkirchen and Bad Mühllacken or Lacken im Mühlkreis to Rohrbach-Berg. In addition, further return journeys from Rohrbach-Berg will be offered in the afternoon at 1.55 pm and 3.45 pm. The existing school bus services will continue to operate and will be significantly relieved by the new route.
Pupil numbers have risen by 14.7 per cent over the last three years
Around 190 pupils from the regions of Eferding, Pupping, Hartkirchen, Aschach, Feldkirchen, Goldwörth, Ottensheim, Walding and Puchenau attend the Rohrbach-Berg school. Pupil numbers have been rising steadily for years. The increase since the 2022/23 school year stands at 14.7 per cent.
“A well-organised school transport service makes an important contribution to greater reliability, safety and ease in the daily lives of many families. When a school site such as Rohrbach-Berg becomes increasingly important for pupils from several regions, we must also respond accordingly in the public transport sector. With the new school service on route 204, we are making a targeted improvement where demand has clearly risen. In doing so, we are supporting young people on their daily journey to school whilst also strengthening an attractive public transport offering in rural areas,” said Günther Steinkellner, Provincial Councillor for Mobility and Infrastructure.
“With the new school service from Goldwörth via Feldkirchen to Rohrbach-Berg, we are responding to rising pupil numbers and providing significant relief for the existing school bus services from the region. Our aim is to continuously adapt school transport to actual demand and to offer pupils reliable, safe and well-coordinated services. The additional morning service and the expanded afternoon options for the journey home are a concrete step towards making the journey to school even easier to plan for many families,” adds Klaus Wimmer, Managing Director of OÖ Verkehrsverbund Gesellschaft.
“The requests from our young people became a concrete mandate for me. I am delighted that we have been able to fulfil this request with the new bus service. It is precisely moments like these that make the job of mayor so special,” says Mayor Thomas Prihoda.
The changes will come into effect at the start of the new school year in September 2026 and are already shown in the timetables valid from 11 July 2026.
