Changes to regional bus services
Highlights:
- On route 561 in the densely populated area between Regau, Vöcklabruck and Kammer-Schörfling, the hourly frequency will be extended in the evening from Monday to Friday on weekdays. This means that a combination of bus and Kammererbahn will offer two journeys per hour between Vöcklabruck and Kammer-Schörfling until around 22:00 (Kammer-Schörfling) or 22:40 (Timelkam/Pichlwang). The hourly service between Vöcklabruck and Regau (cinema centre) will be extended by two hours until around 22:00.
- There will be ten new services on line 600 on Sundays and public holidays. Together with the existing line 609, this will result in a 2-hourly service in both directions between Wels, Marchtrenk, Hörsching, the Traun junction and Plus-City.
- Line 840 between Ried and Antiesenhofen via Aurolzmünster, St. Martin and Ort will have six new services from Monday to Friday on weekdays. The new routes are timed to coincide with the most important start and end times for work at FACC in St. Martin. At the same time, the new stop St. Martin im Innkreis Fa. FACC stop on the B143 is opened at the same time.
Safeguarding existing services and minor changes to regional and local railway services
Together with the regional bus service, regional rail transport forms the backbone of public transport in Upper Austria. Similar to regional bus services, the rail timetable is also being gradually expanded in order to make public transport accessible to even more people. However, following the massive expansion measures of recent years, the main focus for the 2025 timetable year will be on safeguarding existing services and making minor adjustments to regional and local railway services. The existing and very attractive timetable offer, which was commissioned by the province of Upper Austria and the OÖ Verkehrsverbund, will remain largely unchanged.
ÖBB long-distance transport: preparations for the opening of the Koralm Tunnel and full operation on the western line
From December 2025, the opening of the Koralm railway, including the Koralm Tunnel, will result in a complete reorganisation of long-distance services on the southern route and on many inner-Alpine connections. This will have an impact on the whole of Austria and also on cross-border connections. There will therefore only be minor changes to national and international long-distance services for the 2025 timetable, which comes into force on 15 December 2024.
