Start of operation of Traun city bus

More mobility for Traun - now with an extended timetable and modern buses!

The city bus network is growing: new buses, more kilometres on the timetable, longer operating times, half-hourly service and direct connections to important hubs such as the railway station, main square and Traun junction.

Highlights:

• Significant expansion of the timetable to 335,000 timetable kilometres per year. This corresponds to an increase of around 45% compared to the existing service.
• Operating hours: Mon-Fri from 05:30 to 19:00, Sat 08:00 to 19:00, if on a working day, every half hour
• Optimised timetable with access to important transport hubs such as the Traun junction, Traun railway station and Traun main square. Transfers between city buses and local trains as well as the tram are now possible.
• Eight new, modern buses - six of which are electric buses and two diesel buses.
• Manoeuvrable midibuses in low-entry design (suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs), with WLAN, USB ports, cashless ticket purchase, air conditioning and much more.

On 15 December 2025, a completely revised city bus concept will come into force in the city of Traun. It comprises four routes and includes numerous optimisations that will ensure better coverage of the municipal area. Smaller and more manoeuvrable vehicles will enable a more flexible and efficient service in the town. Compared to the existing timetable, the number of kilometres covered will be increased by around 45% to a total of 335,000 km per year.

From 15 December 2025, six battery-electric and two diesel-powered OÖVV buses will be used for city transport. All buses are of the manoeuvrable midi design, low-floor and barrier-free, with Wi-Fi, USB ports, cashless ticket purchasing and much more.

The use of e-buses not only results in significant CO2 savings, but also reduces environmental and noise pollution for the people of Traun. The midi buses also cause less disruption in narrow residential areas and thus reduce traffic congestion in residential areas. The city buses will continue to be operated by Wilhelm Welser Verkehrsbetriebe GmbH on behalf of the Upper Austrian Transport Association.

The midibuses connect the most important transport hubs such as the Traun junction, Traun railway station and Traun main square to the supra-regional public transport network.

This ensures attractive transfers between the city buses and local trains, as well as the tram.

All four districts of Traun, important social facilities and localities for daily needs have been included in the new concept.

• Line 632: Traun junction - cemetery - Steinhumersiedlung - Oedt
• Line 633: Hauptplatz - Bundesschulzentrum - St. Martin Bahnhst (Phyrnbahnstraße) - Trauner Kreuzung
• Line 634: Trauner Kreuzung - St. Dionysen - St. Martin school centre

The operating times on weekdays are every half hour as follows:

• Mon-Fri 05:30 to 19:00
• Sat 08:00 to 19:00
