The Giselawarte, also known as "Gis", was named after Princess Gisela, who was born on the day it was completed and was the daughter of Emperor Franz Josef. Now, thanks to the loving care of the Austrian Alpine Association, it is a popular excursion destination.
The Gis is easily accessible from Linz by regional bus. The approximately one-hour hike to the lookout point starts at the "Lichtenberg Gemeindeamt" bus stop. You can also cycle up to the lookout point.
The effort is rewarded with a stop at the Gasthaus zur Gis and the breathtaking view.
