Over the past five months, not only has the appearance been significantly improved, but investments have also been made in operational safety and future-oriented digital passenger information. Upper Austria's largest bus terminal now complies with all current operating standards and legal framework conditions.
Particularly with regard to accessibility and the length of the vehicles used, there are now significantly different assessment bases than when operations began around 20 years ago. As a result, the number of departure points that can be used for regional bus services had to be reduced from 15 to 13 as part of the refurbishment. In future, these will be located using a new colour coding system, which will provide better orientation and passenger guidance. The quality of the passengers' stay is at the centre of attention: a dedicated facility management system and an on-site security service ensure a pleasant arrival and onward journey at the Linz bus terminal in the long term.
Reduction of departure points for greater operational safety
As part of the redesign of the bus stands, they were also adapted to the legal framework conditions, which have since changed. As part of the refurbishment, the number of departure points available for regional bus services had to be reduced from 15 to 13 in order to ensure passenger safety and fulfil official requirements.
Due to these requirements, it will not be possible for all routes to enter the bus terminal in future. This affects route 315 (Gallneukirchen - Engerwitzdorf - Linz), on this route the replacement timetable (end of route Musiktheater; start of route Linz Volksgartenstraße) will be continued. Lines 252 (Linz - Zwettl/Rodl) and 240 (St. Peter am Wimberg - Linz) will also only run to and from Linz Hessenplatz and Donaulände respectively, as in the replacement timetable.
On several lines, individual booster services have already only run as far as Hessenplatz. These are exclusively courses that run only a few minutes apart from other courses on a line as relief courses. All other bus routes that have not been able to enter the bus terminal since the start of the construction work or have been shortened from/to Urfahr can now use the Linz bus terminal again as usual.
