Trainees who have neither their place of residence nor their place of training in Upper Austria do not fulfil the requirements for free travel for school pupils. Therefore, no Youth Ticket Network can be issued. Free travel is available to pupils and apprentices under the age of 24 for whom family allowance is received, provided they are attending a school with public rights or a recognised vocational training course in Upper Austria.

The KlimaTicket OÖ (with the Junior discount) is a possible alternative. Depending on the ticket category (Regional, Regional + Linz, Regional + Wels, Regional + Steyr or Total), it enables the use of public transport throughout the entire Upper Austrian transport network, excluding or including the core zone transport services of the cities of Linz, Wels and Steyr.

    School transport on occasional services

In addition to In addition to scheduled public transport, there is also so-called "occasional transport" for the transport of schoolchildren. These are individual journeys to and from school that do not require a bus stop or only transport children (often in cars with up to 9 seats), which are organised by the organised by the tax office. No timetables are published for occasional timetables are published for occasional services.

    Scheduled school transport

The majority of school transport in Upper Austria takes place on public bus routes from fixed bus stops (recognisable by the bus stop sign).

OÖVV Info SymbolPupils who use both regular services and occasional services to travel to school or home can apply for a pupil ticket or a youth ticket network. The respective ticket (pupil ticket or youth ticket network) is recognised by the transport company as proof of the excess of € 19.60 to be paid for the journey on occasional services. If the deductible has already been paid to the occasional transport company when using an occasional transport service, the deductible must be paid again when ordering a student ticket or a Youth Ticket Network. The excess previously paid can be reclaimed from the occasional transport company.

In connection with the transport of pupils and apprentices in ordered regional bus services as well as small city and local services, the drivers are granted the above-mentioned facilitations/goodwill options. The use of these goodwill options does not lead to any deterioration in any quality control.
    1. ticket inspections
In principle, every passenger boarding the train must have their ticket checked. Exceptions are only made in the case of heavily frequented student courses, where a complete individual check would lead to problems with adherence to the timetable. In these cases, students may also board at the rear doors and therefore the ticket does not have to be checked for every student. However, random checks are recommended. This goodwill only applies to pupils. Non-obvious students must be checked in any case.
    2. pupils/apprentices without a ticket
If a student or apprentice has forgotten their ID card, they must always be transported. However, the student must be informed of the possibility of an external ticket inspection. A ticket inspector will in any case record a complaint. Furthermore, the student should present his/her ID card again the next day or, if lost, immediately request a duplicate. If a student/apprentice is unable to show their ID for several days (approx. 2 weeks), the driver can issue a warning: "From next week you must show your ID, otherwise you will not be transported or you will have to pay for the journey." This warning should be issued several times and must be documented (record the student's details). It is recommended that the school is also informed in these cases. This serves to protect the driver or the transport company in the event of escalation.
